Description

The Bellefonte Area School District is accepting applications for a Para Educator in the Special Education classroom at the High School. 

 

Seeking para educator to assist special and general education teachers with making accommodations to high school students' academic programs. Duties will include working with the high school special education department in various general education classrroms in all academic disciplines. Individual should have basic understanding of specific learning disabilities in reading, writing and mathematics as well as common accommodations and modifications for assignments. Experience with high school age students preferred.

Qualifications:

Academic: Minimum of Associates Degree or 48 credits beyond your high school diploma are required.  Copy of transcripts or proof of credits must be attached to your application. A PDE approved Para educator credential of competency indicating that the candidate is highly qualified is also accepted.

 

Experience: Preferred experience working with students in public education. Training in child development and learning disabilities helpful. Must possess communication skills, organization skills and the ability to work with students.

 

Other Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Written test is required to be considered for interview. Current physical and TB test is required from hired candidate.

 

Work Day: 8:00 am - 2:30 pm 6 hrs/day, 30 minute unpaid lunch

Work Year: 180 students days; possible 3 additional in-service days

Level: C – 2017-2018 SY

Up-to-date Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 (FBI fingerprint via PA Dept of Education) clearances must be attached to your online application to be considered for an interview. Clearances must be for EMPLOYMENT purposes. We are not permitted to accept VOLUNTEER clearances. Clearances more than five (5) years old will not be accepted. FBI Fingerprint clearance must be done via PA Dept of Education.
